most fans than a consolation prize. A reminder that you didn't make the "Big Dance" which almost everyone follows and makes brackets for.
For the most part, the only people who follow the NIT these days are fans of the teams actually playing in the tournament.
"No one cares" was obviously hyperbole. I realize SOME people care, but most people don't follow it. I wasn't even aware TCU was in it or in the semi's, and I doubt most people who aren't TCU fans are aware either.
