Most of the other responders in this thread are the typical subset that seems to derive considerable pleasure in portraying MU basketball in the most negative possible light and it is not surprising at all to think they buy into this being a legit position. And I recognize to some degree you operate in that space as well. But I think we both recognize that you frequently like to take purposely stupid contrarian positions simply because you know it annoys/frustrates me, and at times I let that frustration overwhelm good judgement and engage the topic like it is a serious discussion.
If you are saying as an MU fan that:
1. You believe MU basketball was a dirty entity and worthy of meaningful punishment during the era in question
2. That the violations uncovered were legitimately serious in nature and done to give MU an improper advantage
3. That the penalties were logical and justified and in line with past precedence
that would be a significant problem for a legit MU fan to believe those things and worthy of the effort of clarification. But if those three things aren't actually true and your real position, which I find it rather hard to believe they could be, then I'm not wasting a bunch of time.
