There is an emphasis on the touchy feely stuff. It seems though it is about passing standardized test. They do not come out and tell you to teach to the test but that is what they want. Teachers have to display the objective of every lesson on the board every class period, plus the standards by the state every period. There is such pressure for the principals to increase the test scores of their school that the start telling you how to teach. One of the biggest problem is discipline. You are limited to how much you can suspend a student, and it is to costly to teach them homebound. The districts will put up with trouble makers because they like that money and if the student has an IEP that is even more money.
