not because they are hiring them, but to pick their brain on who is out there working recruiting, who do they like, etc. No one in college basketball can give you a truer reference on a head coach than a good, established assistant coach - even if they have never worked together. Asst's know which coaches put in the work and which ones ride the coattails.
