more to consider with the scoring. Certainly you've heard the stories about upperclassmen teams. This team will certainly become more consistent and be a factor.
Beyond that:
How many times have players on the team been accused of breaking the law this year?
How many have had academic issues this year?
We've had one leave for personal reasons, and no proof that his statement about it is anything other than what he said.
We've had 6 different players score 20 or more points in a game, and 5 will be returning, with another who scored 18 in a game.
The season still isn't over, and it's clear the team has turned the corner, and is playing much better.
There is no reason to believe any player other than Hughes might leave this year, besides Woods. He had his friend leave the program, and it is understandable he was upset, and wanted to go with him. Now, after some time has passed, and he's returning to form, we shall see how things play out.
The team is young. It seems those who are here are committed and happy with the coach, and taking instruction from him. The team is finally coming together. Fire the coach and ruin the work that it took to clean house and get things moving forward again. It will set the program back again.
There is still the issue of the allegations of the academic misconduct which must be addressed. There is reason to question the credibility of the accuser, but even so, the nature of the allegations lend itself to long term presence of the NCAA on campus. It is a cloud that must be removed before doing anything on the coaching front.
I'm waiting for the whole season to play out, as I said from the start. Until, as I said, ALL of the evidence is in, it is premature to make the call to fire the coach.
