aligned themselves most assuredly with labor, with blue collar folk, with the working man. That was their millieu and today, high-end media hangs out at the elite level and does not align itself socially and culturally with the working folk.
The lobbyist's influence was a second point in that lobbying has become the way the govt works b/c they are there every day.
Freedom of the press is vital and it is vital media plays the role of a watchdog. That is standard and obvious though.
