the fed govt is charged to provide defense from outside, it isn't "unconservative" to support it doing so.

your position sounds like this:

"The current vetting works fine, so more vetting won't work".

"The current 'wall' along the S. Border doesn't work, so improving it drastically won't work."

"Wanting to enforce immigration policy and secure borders is borne out of irrational fear of something that doesn't exist - but I support the US having immigration policy and borders and stuff"
