people, to pour over the constitution and all of the thoughts, feelings, and writings of the people who authored that amendment, would 1000 people all have the same conclusion on the intent of the authors? Would they all interpret the intent in exactly the same way?
If you asked 1000 semi literate high school students, what the words, "all people born in the United States," means... would you get virtual unanimity on that? The words mean what the words mean.
That is what the raskol and JG do here. They mean one thing and write another. And when they are called on what they wrote, they say that's not what they meant. The words mean what the words mean.
Frankly, I think the amendment was a poorly written. And if I were one of the 1000 people to analyze from other statements and other sources what was intended in that amendment, I would likely agree with you.
But that's not what it says.
