Uh, the Iran thing began way back in the '50s when the CIA (in conjunction with the British) overthrew the last democratically elected prime minister in Iran.

Why?

Because he ascribed to the outrageous notion that Iran should be the primary beneficiary of Iran's oil exports, not western petroleum companies.

We like to think all the stuff in the Middle East started with Bin Laden, but it's been brewing since Ike was in office. The people in that part of the world have very long memories...
