who has been 'covering wrestling for 5 years'. He makes it sound like Mayes just punched the Buffalo guy out of the blue for absolutely no reason at all. I assume he was at the meet, to write that story. He would at least know there was a counter-argument by the Mizzou side that there was something else extraordinary going on (like the guy choking Mayes) that provoked the punch. Wrestlers don't just haul off and throw an uppercut to the stomach of opponents for no reason at all, particularly when they are leading by a substantial margin late in the match. Every wrestler knows that would lead to being disqualified. And common sense tells you maybe there was a reason Mayes only got docked 1 point, when he clearly punched the guy. Yet this homer doesn't even speculate about the reason for the punch. Hope that guy has a day job because he is utterly worthless as a journalist.
