Industry standard is you give a guy 3 years minimum. Contract length doesn't mean squat - generally you give 5 for a recruiting illusion of security moreso than because you actually expect the guy to coach 5 years if he fails completely.

For example, that BC guy's probably getting fired this year after 3 years.
