Hell they made the tourney the year before he got canned. Wasn't a sanctions issue. Think they just thought they could do better, which was hilarious. They hired the freakin Cornell coach because of his ties to NE prep schools. Predictably, he was a disaster there (looks pretty good back in the Ivy League at Penn though).
Think Al was just too old to get a decent job at that point. He was 57 or 58. What kind of a school would hire a guy that age for a rebuild...
He's actually at a low major now - Kennessaw State. That's a dead end job for most. Took over a bottom 10 kenpom team and improved them 80 spots in year one, will be interesting to watch.
