There is an additional potential problem on the horizon beyond the summer internship situation. That's what for want of a better term I'll call "Tutorgate".
The NCAA Committee on Infractions has taken the position in the North Carolina proceeding that the academic fraud committed there constitutes ", i.e. the players got something they weren't entitled to receive. This is a major expansion of the definition of "improper benefits" by the NCAA.
The head of the SEC, if memory serves, his name is Stankey, apparently has played a leading role in the expansion of the definition.
The possible application to Mizzou would seem to be if there's a finding the tutor took tests, wrote papers, etc., then the players arguably received a benefit to which they weren't entitled under NCAA rules (credit for a class) and that is an improper benefit just as much as if a booster had been giving them $100 handshakes after a game.
Tutorgate would be another set of violations following on the summer internship problems and who knows what action the NCAA might seek to take.
