i think it should be the 8 division winners of the 4 power

conferences, and the conference championship games are the defacto 1st round.

PAC - Washington / Colorado
SEC - Bama / Florida
BIG - Penn St / Wisconsin
ACC - Clemson / VaTech

then seed the winners 1-4 and play a final 4 like today, and so on. this rewards the division champions for their regular season play and makes every conference game matter. OOC scheduling wouldn't mean much, so teams are free to schedule as hard as they want, giving fans matchups they want to see instead of delaware state and semo.

no more complaining about strength of schedule, no more complaining about 2nd place teams jumping over the conf champs (like the b10), and it's tough to argue it doesn't produce a legitimate champion.

then let everyone that didn't win a division and the other conferences play in the post season beef o'brady bowls against whoever. those don't matter anyway.
