I still remember when we joined the SEC 5 years ago, an Alabama alum made that statement to me.

"We hired you for your basketball".

Many in the SEC figured our football team wouldn't add much to the conference (we surprised them for 2 consecutive years) but they figured our basketball team would provide the conference with a much needed boost.

Boy did they miss the boat on that one!
