originally and rightfully envisioned, if the people are knowledgeable and involved. That no longer applies, IMO, to an increasing number of people. The system does not function well or meet the intended goal if people automatically vote for the incumbent, thereby producing career politicians.
That is a long way from the first gov't electees and presidents, who often served only from a sense of duty and NOT from a sense of obtaining self-serving power.
Of course, all this is predicated upon having truly qualified, well-meaning people running for office. That, unfortunately, cannot be demanded or legislated.
Summary: We need term limits for all. Two terms being acceptable and one term preferable. Political experience may be the most insignificant qualification for any office.
