And you probably also don't understand the reasoning for re-paving.

There was a great series on Discovery Channel a few years ago where an engineer went from city to city to look at infrastructure..it was pretty sad.

Having been in Minnesota when the I35W bridge collapsed, and then seeing reports on how many bridge issues there were (either design flaws or just flat out no longer in good shape) it is quite scary.

I think the money should just stay within the states and the federal govt get out of roadbuilding because the Congress and Senate use "infrastructure" as a way of pork money spending rather than true prioritization, but I do think there are tremendous infrastructure needs in this country...some states do this very well (I think MN and IA are two of the top Midwest states....some do it poorly....Missouri used to be one of those states, but not sure if they still are or are not.
