probably feel a lot less compelled to do so.
California would take their 55 electoral votes with them & Southern Oregon would take several more.
That would tend to move the rest of the country further to the right and closer to the values Texas deems important.
But again, my preference would be for the U.S. government to shrink and pull back from its overbearing control over the lives of all the citizens and move back towards the model our Founding Fathers tried to implement of a relatively small and limited federal government with the states setting the tone for the type of government and society that they wanted.
It is the Big Government intrusion into everyone's lives and overriding state preferences that is causing the push back we see today.
