For some stupid reason, people expect medical insurance to pay for routine checkups, vaccinations and treatment of minor illnesses. That is why health insurance costs are so high. Doctors have to pay staff to file paperwork for a routine checkup. The insurance companies have to maintain staff to handle the claims and cut checks.
