If the people were black and advocated the things the rural folks believe they would love the cities.

If the people living in the cities were white and promoted the liberal agenda the rural folks despise they would hate having them as fellow citizens.

In other words, it is not the color of the skin of the folks living the cities that causes the urban vs rural divide, but their diametrically opposed beliefs and world outlook.
