(1) Temple played more ranked teams that season than we will play this season, including 3 Top 15 teams (#14 Notre Dame, #7 Louisville, #15 UCF). The Big East was pretty good that year — better than the SEC East has been in recent years.
(2) Temple averaged about 3 wins per season over the past 25 years, with 13 of those seasons being 2 or fewer wins. The year before Matt Rhule, Temple only won 4 games, and had only reached 2 bowl games since the 1970's.
(3) Temple is currently 4-1 in the AAC and tied for 1st place in the conference. My guess is they finish 7-1 with the best record in the league, and 9-3 overall. One of Temple's losses was a one-possession game at Penn State, who they played as competitively as Ohio State did.
