In many games last year we were simply blown off the court, and in this instance that doesn't not appear to be the case. Which is a good sign given we are now younger and arguably less talented.
The Illini has a similar scrimmage with a D3 opponent over the weakend, and they outscored Illinois 31-11 during the last 10 minutes and lost only 82-75. That despite being held scoreless for a 9 minute period that allowed the Illini to build a nearly 30 point lead. I don't expect the Illini to be barely better than a D3 team, similarly I'm not sure its reasonable to expect Creighton to only be about 15 points better than us when games start counting. But it is a good sign that at least it was competitive and seems like not a huge mismatch.
