a heads up by the NY Police who alerted them to what was likely in them.
The warnings from the Justice Department are tainted by the broadly held view by the citizens and the FBI that the Justice Department is highly politicized and corrupt.
This is a very unusual situation. Hillary has already been caught blatantly violating the law and was allegedly allowed to walk because they "couldn't prove intent". Another 10,000+ emails is very likely to contain info that could demonstrate that intent.
Comey had already promised Congress that he would keep them up to date on any new developments and this was a HUGE development. Keeping them and the citizens in the dark would not have been a good idea.
The citizens ought to know that an investigation is ongoing which could prove a candidate's intent to commit the serious criminal actions we already know that she committed. We have a right to know that there's a possibility that she might be imprisoned before serving out her term if elected.
