Term limit threats are irrelevant to Congress largely because the only way they become a reality is if 1) Congress enacts them or 2) A constitutional amendment is ratified by the states and adopted.
The first option will never happen, and option 2 would literally take years and years to accomplish. Just adopting the language of the amendment would take forever, irrespective of the amount of time that it would take for state legislatures to ratify the amendment.
I don't think there's any fear whatsoever by establishment folks over the adoption of term limits.
