It was tee'd up for Romney. He had the establishment RNC support & was still sent packing.

Trump is a real outsider. So the oppposition is the RNC, DNC & all their media...the whole enchilada.
He minced up the RNC candidates & has swatted the media publically. That is flat out incredible without establishment support.
