was stay on message about his vision for the future and this would have been a tight race. Instead, he showed that he is incapable of absorbing even the slightest criticism and has to counter punch in to oblivion anyone who criticizes him.

In the end, this is what doomed him. He never understood the basic idea that you have to pull in voters, not just spin up your core by attacking other large voter blocks. He confused adoration by his core with winning the majority.
