really Democrats and Republicans that control that much financial power, but lobbyists. Their ability to influence politicians to get favorable treatment for their causes is a way to direct the enormous financial expenditures their way.

Also problematic -- of that 3.8T expenditure, a lot goes to SS and Medicare. Its recipients, largely, don't want those benefits cut.
