Gonna be honest...Mizzou fans melt like no other fanbase. I mean, this melt has been occurring daily for over 2 years.
But it just hit me that this board was melting long before KA was hired. It melted when Haith was hired and briefly stopped when Haith won 30 games his first season. But it came back with a vengeance when Haith was Norfolked and it never stopped from that point on.
This may be the most nuclear board I've ever read.
On one hand it's very entertaining for someone who really doesn't care about basketball anymore. Football is more exciting and pays the bills.
On the other hand it's very sad. The ongoing melt makes our fans look like pathetic losers, and in many ways our fans are losers. It's not the fans fault. It's Mizzou's fault. Mizzou has singlehandedly created a losing mentality which over time Mizzou fans have embraced.
Mizzou's athletic culture (except wrestling) is one built upon extreme disappointment. Sure, there have been brief flashes of brilliance, but those moments have been rare and have themselves always ended in disappointment.
From a football and basketball perspective, Mizzou just cannot win the big games. Mizzou can't win the one game that matters most. The reason is because Mizzou doesn't act like a winner. Mizzou acts like a deer in headlights. We don't act like we've been there before because, frankly, we haven't been there before! LOL.
Therefore, when Mizzou occasionally plays well enough to reach a must win big game (Big 12 and SEC football championship games or Norfolk State) Mizzou's inexperience takes over and snatches defeat from victory.
It's such a sure thing that you would be a fool to bet money on Mizzou winning any big game.
Mizzou is a cocktease, but are you surprised? It's Mizzou's culture. Culture is a very difficult thing to change - nearly impossible.
We are Mizzou.
