I've never used the WSM, I just know it's more expensive.

For a 12 hour smoke I put in quite a bit of charcoal, set the nozzles to just barely open, and come back every hour or so and slightly adjust the nozzles. I mostly use it because it's what I've always used, it's what I've gotten good at using, and it's cheap.
