is only five bucks more than the 10 yo. Of course that depends on how much the 10 yo is. It's $39.99 everyday at Wine & Cheese, and Randall's in Fairview Hts occasionally puts it on sale at $35.99.
Everybody I chatted with at the event agreed that the Lore was by far the tastiest selection. At $110, it ought to be. My second choice was the cask strength. This year's version of the Cairdeas was underwhelming. Since older casks have been depleted to the point that the 15 yo and 18 yo versions have been discontinued, Select no longer has whisky from any older casks, and it's been dumbed down to a shadow of the it's former self. The brand rep actually recommended that it be used for cocktails.
I personally enjoy the 1/4 cask as my go to Laphroaig, but it's probably because I've conditioned my palette to increasingly potent peatiness with Ardbeg. You probably wouldn't want to buy any, but the Lagavulin 8 is the peatiest dram I've had outside of Octomore. The younger Caol Ila that is being bottled by Old Hepburn is also over the top.
I would highly, highly recommend the peated AnCnoc versions...Rutter, Cutter, Flaughter, etc. I've only found them on the Mission website:

I use Winesearcher to locate whisky that I read about:

The beauty of ordering on line is that you're not charged state sales tax and that mitigates the shipping cost.
