Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated reported Wednesday that guard Jabari Brown will be attending training camp with the Milwaukee Bucks.
The 23-year-old appeared in 19 games, including five starts, for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2014-2015 season. Brown averaged 11.9 points and 2.1 assists in just over 28 minutes a game for Los Angeles that season, including impressive 37.1 percent shooting from three-point range. He scored 32 points on 9-for-19 shooting (4-for-6 from three) in his last NBA game on April 15, 2015 against the Sacramento Kings.
Brown was waived by the Lakers just prior to the 2015-2016 season. He then signed with the Foshan Long Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association, where he averaged over 32 points per game in 27 games. The D-Fenders re-signed him after his season with Foshan ended in early March, though waived him in April after his season was cut short with patellar tendinitis.
The sharp-shooting Brown will be considered a long shot to make Milwaukee’s roster out of camp. The Bucks already have more than enough depth at the guard position for next season, including Khris Middleton, Rashad Vaughn, Malcolm Brogdon, Michael Carter-Williams, Matthew Dellavedova and Tyler Ennis. The Bucks are also bringing shooting guards Xavier Henry, J.J. O’Brien and Orlando Johnson to camp. Giannis Antetokounmpo, whom head coach Jason Kidd has already tabbed as the team’s point guard, just signed a four-year contract extension on Tuesday.
