soured as a result of a tip.
They found a potential violation and notified the school they would be investigating in April 2014.
Rather than subject themselves to an extended NCAA investigation, like the one that derailed Quin's program, like the one that put Haith in handcuffs for two years, Mizzou chose to cooperate with the NCAA.
They worked with the NCAA to investigate the potential violation involving Gant. While that violation was unsubstantiated (which, by the way, means they were unable to prove it happened - not that it didn't happen) they found during the investigation the other violations. Including the internships, the impermissible benefits at the LOZ, etc.
It's not hard to understand, unless you're a conspiracy theorist. In which case you can make up any number of unreasonable scenarios.
Also, your timeline is incorrect. The NCAA notified Mizzou of the investigation shortly BEFORE Haith left for Tulsa. But your way fits the conspiracy theory better, I'll grant you.
One could make the argument that had Mizzou simply stonewalled the NCAA, none of the other violations would have been uncovered. I find that hard to believe, given Mizzou's past history with NCAA investigations.
