and I diverge again. America, all though not perfect, was devised so that despotism is resisted by systematic checks and balances both within the military and within the civilian system of governance. That system has served her well and has prevented all large scale attempts at mass political killings using the military. I guess the worse we have seen is Hoover and the clintons, but they had to use subterfuge.
