"why do you need guns to protect yourself from tyranny? You can't stand up to the military!"

Who would give the order to execute civilians and for what offense? I think it is just as likely a Chelsea Manning, McVeigh, or Micah Johnson would turn around and shoot the person that gave the command. The military is not full of anonymous storm troopers.
