Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams wore eyeblack during a game earlier this month that contained the breast cancer awareness symbol along with the phrase "We will find a cure". Williams told NFL Media's Aditi Kinkhabwala on Wednesday that he was fined for violating the league's uniform policy.
Per Kinkhabwala, the NFL also fined Steelers cornerback William Gay for wearing purple cleats, just as he did last October. Purple is associated with campaigns to raise awareness against domestic violence. Gay's mother was killed in an incident of domestic violence.
