situations and take care of people. They still are unsung heroes.
What has changed is society's perception influenced by people who are threatened by the police because many are habitual law breakers. Hard to be a burglar if you get stopped for having expired plates and someone notices another person's property in your car. Hard to peddle drugs when the police are stopping you because of some other infraction and have probable cause to search you.
Too bad the officers have to gear up now more than ever, but the criminals are heavily armed and it's impossible to throw on a tactical vest going from a community policing walk in a business district to a hot call of an armed disturbance across town. Do you think it's comfortable wearing a sh*tload of kevlar loaded with extra mags/ammo in 95 degree heat?
