Ricker wasn't a good o-line coach for us

Increased pre-snap penalties were a problem both years under Ricker. Missed assignments got worse both years under Ricker and peaked last year. That wasn't just because seniors were playing. There is no guarantee that younger players would have played better. Maybe Pinkel had lost confidence in Ricker as a coach who could develop young linemen. The bottom line is Pinkel did not make his career by being wrong most of the time on playing upper classmen. It was the heart of his development program.
Ricker wasn't the only problem last year, but he was certainly one of them. Not a shock that Odom didn't want him on his staff.
I'd like to say I hope he does well at Illinois since he's a Missouri kid and a former Mizzou guy, but that could affect our recruiting in the St. Louis area, so I won't.
