Lock is a year older, a year better, has an actual QB coach and actual OC
Witter is the sole SEC-quality RB? Now that's laughable. Ross is the best RB on our roster, bar none. Bigger, ranked higher coming out of HS, and played behind (2) studs at OU. Witter wouldn't even see the field at OU. Crockett is also a 4-star big body RB and if the staff says he's "absolutely playing," I trust that over your opinion. But as a #3, Witter is a fine back and having a good camp.
Black has experience at a NC program. Can he stay healthy? If so, he's our best WR. Yes the WRs need to be better but like with Lock, a year older and having Hill back at WR coach is huge. No idea why Pinkel moved him to QB coach, but Gary's gonna' be Gary at times.
Odom spoke very highly of the TEs. I've never been a big Culkin fan as a receiver, but think Reese can be a definite threat catching the ball. But Heupel doesn't throw much to the TE, so if their role is to block, cool with me. Culkin is a good blocking TE. I suspect Blanton will see some time, too, and he's a big body.
OL is a question mark, but last year's line was a disaster due to Howell and Cuellar not playing, McGovern moving, and Boehm being hurt all year. Plus, the other SRs just weren't good. Pendleton, Abeln, and Adams got snaps last year and apparently Ricker wanted to use them more and Gary went Gary on him. Also, both Odom and some of our DL (arguably one of the best in the country) have said the OL is holding their own and taking it to the DL. That's all we have to go by now, so I'll take it. Just having Howell being able to play last year would've been huge. But alas, didn't happen. All of these guys are a year older and stronger. Plus, they have a great OL coach with an excellent reputation and an OC with a clue.
