Norm was head coach when 634 wins were accumulated at MU. 9 of those Rich Daly actually coached, and 3 were vacated during the 1994 NCAA tourney. Thus the 622 number.
Alden forced Haith to accept the NCAA's suspension rather than fight it, which was the right call for MU given how long the thing had dragged on and negatively impacted our program even though it had nothing to do with MU basketball.
