But considering the field goal percentage has been considerably lower as a result of no efficient shooters left when KA took over, the numbers now are deceptively low.
Yes, it's bad. But it's not entirely the result of poor ball movement. It was also the result of players missing good looks created within the offense. Haith's last season saw assists on just 43% of field goals made. KA improved those numbers to 49% and 50% over the past two years despite significantly less talent overall.
For comparison, Mike Anderson's 31-win elite eight team assisted on 62% of made shots. Haith's first team of inherited Mike Anderson players assisted on 58% after assisting on 57% the season before under MA.
Also worth noting: Quin's final team was at 51%. Mike Anderson's first was 55%, and his second was 58%. So a four-point improvement in year one and seven points over two seasons, roughly the same amount of improvement as KA relative to Haith's final season.
