(6211-4799)/6211 = 22.7% drop in freshman enrollment which does NOT equal "almost 27%" for the mathematically-challenged 615Tiger.
University enrollment overall is down 6.3%. Still, 2016 enrollment is the 4th highest enrollment in Mizzou history.
The number of high school graduates in Missouri has remained flat or slightly decreased over the past several years, despite the fact that high school graduation rates in Missouri have risen from 78% in 2011 to 87% in 2014. This means that enrollment in Missouri High Schools is decreasing, meaning that in order to keep up the pace of enrollment, Mizzou will have increase enrollment from nonresidents. Yes, the lack of leadership by the administration that led to last year's protests is a large factor, but it isn't the only factor. Demographics and increased competition from neighboring state schools also factor largely.
