You want a "representative sampling". Heard a lot of the same talk 4 years ago. Still a lot of time. The debates (or any other scandals) could sideline either nominee.
Also, a panel type poll does a really good job of showing the trends of voters, I wouldn't agree that it would be the best way to gauge a snapshot of voter's behavior. I believe it has shown Clinton from down 7 or 8 to down 2 or 3. So Clinton has gotten a bounce (as shown in other polls). But the actual ratios seem to be a bit of an outlier.
