And all this anti-police sentiment is providing them an opportunity to try to seize total control in some of these areas.

It will never happen, but there could be some really significant violence while the movement is put down.

If police ever did back out and let the gangs control those neighborhoods, residents would be scared to death and they would be fleeing the inner city like refugees fleeing Syria.
