This is what happened:
Heupel tells Lock it's time to build your personal brand for the NFL. You will be viewed as a responsible leader with shorter hair.
Lock should have told him to go to hell.
If an NFL GM can't look Drew Lock in the eyes, talk to him for two minutes and see he is a tremendous person who was raised right with excellent values and leadership skills, then that person shouldn't be in such a high position.
If I was Drew I would have pointed to Gabbert. Didn't stop him from being drafted in the first round. Look at Brady, doesn't stop him from being successful.
I'm excited to have a better offensive mind calling plays, but to hell with that kind of influence.
It wasn't even super long or messy. It's not like Mauk with his mullet and coke style. It was a normal longer haircut.
Half these kids have dreadlocks and earrings and tattoos. I understand they're not quarterbacks, but come on, if Drew Lock can't have flow without the guilt of it hurting his future there's something wrong. Let him be himself.
That's abusive mentoring.
