a hiring firm out of Dallas made the hire, which obviously is independent.

In the OP the observation was made that the firm probably doesn't understand the close knit network of successful and wealthy people in the St Louis and Missouri region and how they'd go beyond their normal standards to support one of their own, Mike Owens -- that observation wipes out the point you're making.

There was the cont'd observation that the hire they made was a solid one. Certainly the one a robot would have made if the robot had to pick the best candidate.

You are so far down the class system that you truly can't even grasp what network I'm talking about.
