minds of recruits. It says to them that the school is committed to its coach and they'll have a chance to play for him if they go there. Any coach that's within a couple years of his contract running out who hasn't been offered an extension is viewed as a dead man walking on the recruiting circuit. It's the first thing opposing coaches bring up when they're recruiting against you.
