That's what happened with the football program. Pinkel didn't worry about recruiting rankings. He sought out particular talents. For the most part, they were character people, and a lot of discarded recruits made significant progress in the area of player development.
Get quality people in who have the athleticism and character to develop and turn them into winners.
Now, the naysayers will probably have something to say something about abandoning the effort to get high level recruits, but that isn't what I'm suggesting, and it isn't necessarily one or the other.
One special quality I hope they have or develop quickly is the ability to dismiss the vile spewed by the malcontents who constantly bash their own team.
I'd like to see the team gel and finish strong over over the last 12-15 games.
