The bar will be low this year, and rightfully so. All of our size will be freshmen this year. Yes, I am ignoring Woods. 15 or more wins and KA is back for 2017-18.
But the bar will be raised significantly. The 2017-18 team will have to make the post-season for KA to continue as coach. An NIT invite will be sufficient.
Making the post-season in 2017-18 will require a giant leap forward in the paint. Whether that's Smith putting on muscle, Nikko getting up to college speed, Kemp surprising everyone, or a big JUCO or transfer pick up, the team will have to make an even bigger leap NEXT year than they will need to make for the coming season.
It will be tough, but it can be done. There is a positive path forward. A Mizzou team that makes the post-season and extends its head coach contract will be in a position to attract better recruits. We need a new assistant that will make our players better, not another Fuller, Fulford or Tate. We aren't in a position to be focusing our resources on recruiting. We need to be focused on getting a program together.
