Kim was a former assistant in D1 during the last century. He doesn't have those kind of connections. This isn't an opportunity that has career trajectory or that will lead to something promising, its a one year gig that likely is detrimental to one's long term career.
The reason to why he doesn't just go hire a great assistant is the same as the reason he can't recruit and why we are so poorly prepared and why we get outschemed by everyone and why our players play with such a lack of motivation and expectations. Its not something he is capable of. But he is capable of hiring Anthony Peeler at this moment.
