that I liked the hire and thought there was a good chance for success - where success would be a competitive SEC team. Given the names we were hearing at the time, I'd have preferred Mike White (or the Marshall pipe dream), but was not interested in Howland, Floyd, etc. And I've been disappointed for a long time that we keep just missing out on having Cuonzo Martin available when Mizzou has an opening - I think he'd be a very good fit. Going after Painter while Martin was available a couple of hours down the road may have been Alden's biggest mistake.
I don't blindly support Anderson, either, and agree that the first two seasons have been a disappointing mess. I doubt that he's going to get a fourth year.
But I won't write this season off until it's happened.
And I won't bash Mizzou's players by calling them less than SEC-caliber. There's some good talent returning on this team and I look forward to seeing the new pieces.
